DIY Bridal Shower Paper Wreath

Make a personalized wreath for a bridal or baby shower.

Supplies:
decorative papers (I used 12"x12")
scissors
glue stick
ruler
hot glue gun and glue stick
ruler or paper cutter
embellishment (I used an initial sticker)
circle templates (I used a tape roll and jar lid)
coordinating ribbon
hole punch
Decide how big you would like the wreath....
the diameter is the measurement across the wreath at the largest point.
I wanted mine 20 inches.
The circumference would be 10"....I glued strips of colored paper together
to measure 10". Make four of these.
Glue  of the 10" strips together...
You will end up with  a 10" x 48" long strip of paper.
Draw lines across the back of the paper 1" apart using a ruler and pencil
and fold the strip on those lines "accordion style".
If you would like a decorative edge, you can trim a "v" or "U"
about 4 folds together, and continue.
Curve the folded strip together....
and glue the two ends together using the glue stick
....it will not hold the shape until the next step,
don't worry!
Cut out a few circles of different size using coordinating paper,
to put your letter or embellishment on.
Center it....
Cut them out, and glue together using the glue stick.

Now using plenty of hot glue (don't burn yourself)
glue the piece down over the center.
( you may have somebody hold the wreath together for you as you do this)
Glue another circle on the back.
This is a good place to leave a message for the recipients
and sign it.
Using a hole punch, punch two holes at the top
and thread some coordinating ribbon through
and hang on the front door!
Good luck and thank you for reading!

Baby Picture Tea Bag Favors

Pictures of my son, Austin and his fiancé, Katlynn as babies
attached to tea bags!
At a bridal shower
have a bowl prepared with tea bags
with the bride's and groom's baby pictures attached.
I used Raspberry Tea Bags
....made printer copy pictures of the bride and groom
between the ages of newborn and six...
attaching a copy of each to a square of colored card stock.
Place the tea in a clear bag
and tie with coordinating ribbon
and top with a sticker with the names of
the bride and groom.
Everybody loved the little gifts.
It only cost a few cents each to make.

DIY Personalized Canvas with Wedding Date and Bible Verse

I wanted a personalized bridal shower gift for my son and his fiancé.
So I made this canvas below.
If I can do it, so can you!  It was very easy.
Joshua 24:15
I started with an 18" square primed canvas.
I bought this when they were half price at Hobby Lobby.
I think I only paid about $7.
I rough drafted on a piece of paper how I wanted the end product to look.
And then I sectioned off the canvas and blocked in
the colors with acrylic craft paint.
Don't worry too much about this step.
Even if you painted the full canvas one color,
or even left it white - it would look great.
Then I stuck on the adhesive letters
(also at Hobby Lobby for about $4)
The large letters are actually thick paper-mache style ($1 each)
I sprayed them with Elmer's spray glue and let it dry for 5 minutes before
adhering.  This way it was only temporary.
Next step was to take the canvas outside
and spray it with black satin finish spray paint ($3)
Let it dry completely.
Then I used tweezers to remove the stick-on letters.
The larger letters, I saved for another project.
I decided I wanted to "separate" out the bible verse,
so I taped off that section with painters tape
and used a crumpled up paper towel dipped lightly
in light blue paint and dabbed it on.
I like the effect, it stands out better now.
Oops - I forgot to put:  Joshua 24:15....
so I stenciled those in.
This is it on the wall by the window, the morning sun gives it a glare,
but I think it looks pretty good.
So, for under $20 I made a "personalized" shower gift.
Yay!
